You could use twimailer so you can filter out spam followers etc. http://twimailer.com/

Normally you get a mail that person x is following you, to know more about the person you have to press a link to go to his page then press the block button, or the follow button. With twimailer you get a mail with all those options and information. There is also a spam button.
